Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #400
It is time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge! This week it is a color challenge.
I will be honest, this had me stumped until I realized that these colors can be found in the Going Places paper stack. For whatever reason once I knew that and looked at the papers I knew what I wanted to do. I pulled out the Definitely Dahlia stamp and got to work.
Here's how I made this card. I first inked up the stamp in Delightful Dijon ink. Before stamping I wiped away some of the ink from the center of the stamp. After I stamped the image I cleaned up the stamp and then inked the center portion in Lost Lagoon ink. I did wipe away some of the ink so there would not be any straight lines and then using a stamp positioner stamped over the Delightful Dijon image.
Do you see that awesome green color where the Lost Lagoon ink overlapped the Delightful Dijon ink? Doesn't it look like Mossy Meadow? That was such a happy accident! I layered the image on Lost Lagoon and Sahara Sand card stock and added a strip of DSP from the Going Places paper stack. I finished it up with some Metallic Gold Baker's twine.
I hope you play along in this color challenge and when you do be sure to let me know!
Your big, bold dahlia is certainly the star of the show and the bit of gold twine adds just a bit of shine. I love how the inks mixed to make the rich green!
Love your artistic and creative approach with the large dahlia! The way the colors blend together is wonderful!
I can see why you had a hard time with these colors, Shannon, but you managed to use them perfectly on your flower! It’s beautiful!
What a beautiful card. Looks like a pies of art.
I love how those colours blend to give you a third and that flower is so pretty – it makes a real statement Sharon. Great card!
Wow! I would have never thought to combine these two colors on the dahlia, but what a fabulous result! And you got an additional color out of it, too – that is a happy accident!
I love your card. It’s very artistic looking. Great use of the colours and I love the new colour you created too 🙂
Thanks Jenny! I love this big dahlia and am happy whenever I get to pull it out and play with it.
Thanks Jennifer! I appreciate your kind comment. I have to admit it was a pretty happy accident!
Thanks Sara! A very happy accident! I love it when that happens.
Thanks Sheila! I was very happy how it all turned out. A happy accident!
Thanks Joanne! I appreciate it! I am looking forward to trying more combinations to see what happens!
Hi Chris! Yes, a happy accident indeed! I am curious to try other combinations.
Thanks Tracy!
Oh, this almost looks like a painting! I love the huge focal element on the front and how you combined the Going Places DSP with a floral image! And how fun to get the Mossy Meadow color by combining the two inks! Beautiful card! Great job with the color challenge this week!
This is gorgeous! It looks like the flower and the DSP were meant to be together…that wonderful green color from the overlapping inks! Very nice!
