Recycling and the Big Shot
Yesterday I was out and about with a friend and we stopped in a grocery store so I could buy some ribs for the BOY"S (aka my son) homecoming dinner. While we were there I found some cuuute candy and hopefully I will share a project featuring them, unless I eat all the candy first. As we left the store there were a bunch of vending machine and I saw some pretty soda cans. This reminded me of a project I wanted to try using my Big Shot. I purchased 3 cans of soda. I really only wanted one can to try this project out but the vending machine was pretty darn cool and so I had to buy 2 more cans, good thing I ran out of coins! Now I was on a mission to find more pretty drink cans (yes, my friends are so kind and indulge my obsessions) so we stopped at another store and I found 3 more really pretty ones. The bad part was I really did not want to have to drink all the drinks so my friends "volunteered" and we each took a can to drink.
Here is the can AnneMarie drank. I think it was Mango Ice Tea.
Paper: Peach Parfait, Garden Green and Basic Black
Punch: Scallop edge
Big Shot: Daisies # 2
I cut off the top of the can and then down the side and then cut off the bottom. The edges can be a little sharp so don't do what I normally do and run your fingers along them. I ran a single layer of the soda can through the Big Shot. I was able to get 2 of the large and medium daisies and 1 small daisy. The circle in the middle is from the large daisy. I used mini glue dots and dimensionals to assemble the flower layers and attach them to the box. Once I ran the can through the die the edges no longer felt sharp.
Here's the can Gail had to drink. Now this one was a sacrifice cause it was some kind of energy drink. I hope you got to sleep last night! You see how we suffer?
Paper: Basic Black and Melon Mambo
Big Shot: Matrchbox die and Blossom Party (click here for another idea using this die) and the Perfect Polka Dot folder
I love the color of this can, I just wish the contents were yummier.
Here's the can I drank which was Blueberry Ice Tea.
Paper: Marina Mist and Basic Black
Big Shot: Blossom Party die
Wheels: Very Vintage JW(jumbo wheel)
with a white ink cartridge.
I am pretty excited about how these turned out and I have more cans that I want to run through the Big Shot. I am hoping that the BOY will help me drink some of them. Now don't be alarmed if you see a short shadowy figure going through your blue recycle bins it is just me checking for pretty cans to cut up!
Check back tomorrow when the Word Play series resumes!
Too cool. Love your creativity and idea, project looks beautiful. Can’t wait to try! Thank you for sharing.
